An exciting follow-up to winning the People’s Choice Award at the St Jude Dream Home Giveaway: receiving the award on air with WLBT Studio 3 and sharing the winning painting!

While I was hopeful that one of my pieces could win, I was still quite surprised and humbled to receive the award! Angela Evans with WLBT Studio 3 graciously gave us the opportunity to share my winning piece, what inspires my work in landscapes, chat about the St Jude Dream Home Giveaway, and upcoming art shows including Art on the Rez and the Mississippi Artist Guild fall show in October!

“Evening Mountain Valley” is a painting inspired from scenery from Glacier National Park in northern Montana where I have had the privilege to visit twice so far. It is a 24” x 36” piece and is also one of the first large format paintings I have made! At that size, I really hoped to capture the scale and grandeur of being low in a valley looking up at a majestic mountain. Like in many of my works, I wanted to remind viewers that there are many things much bigger than us in this world and more engaging than a digital screen (the irony that this is a website isn’t lost on me, though!)

I hope whoever purchases this award winning painting will find it a constant and gentle reminder to take a breath and pause while they enjoy the world around them. It’s certainly been that for me and my family in the time we’ve had it!
